Mexican Menu at Painted Table
Last
February 5, just in time for Chinese New Year, The Painted Table of Canvas
Botique Hotel in Puerto Princesa launched their all-new Mexican Menu, a
16-course menu ranging from appetizers to desert that you’ll surely love. The
very good part – they all used local ingredients.
And to
begin your Mexican Feast, make sure to try, my favorite of all, their Nachos. Unlike
the regular Nachos you eat in a restaurant, their Nachos is made of homemade
RAINBOW tortilla, and the meat? It’s shredded beef! Not ground. And oh, please
mind the mozzarella and crema. As for me, it’s a little too heavy for
appetizer, but it’s soo good!
For the
soup, their Mexican Corn Chowder is like the salted version of our very own
bilo-bilo, with bacon. It has corn, root vegetables such as sweet potato,
potato and ube (yum), plus mozzarella! Truly mouthwatering.
After
having soup, you can try their salad made of romaine lettuce with grilled
peppers and corn, tossed in tequilla, and topped with carne asada. I can’t say
much to this food ‘cause I’m not a fan of salad.
If you’re a
fan of tacos, well, they have of these, depends to your liking. First are the
soft tacos in which you can choose either with shrimp or lengua. One thing I
noticed, their tortilla are looks really good in the eye, and also in the tongue,
as it is homemade and with appetizing color. For the hard tacos, there are also
two (2) options, a salmon flavored hard taco in which it was tossed in our
local tuba vinegar, or the orejas (pig ear) flavored one. The courses are

And now, on
to the main course. They have four (4) dishes for this one. Since I don’t eat
pork, I can not tell you how good is their Costilla Adobadas, a 5-hour grilled Mexican
pork ribs served with beer-battered onion rings on the side. They also have
beef rib carne asada and chicharron powder. The part I love in this course is
the side dish, the fried root crops and the salsa curada dip. It’s like a
match-made in heaven. (okay, I know it’s kinda OA but it’s really good.) Since
Palawan is rich in seafood, they also have grilled stuffed squid, literally
grilled squid but stuffed with savory tomatoes, salsa and served with shredded lettuce
in gochujang aioli and arroz con roja. Lastly, my favorite of all, the Roasted
Chicken Mole. Your ordinary roasted chicken with a twist – mellowed in local cacao
(cocoa). The chicken is so juicy and flavorful, and cacao is just the perfect
twist to our regular roasted chicken. Alongside, it is served with mashed
potatoes, sautéed vegetables, and savory mole sauce.
As to end
your Mexican meal right, they have a ray of dessert (that I also loved and waited
the whole night) that will surely complete your Mexican dinner experience. They
have Margarite Trifle, vanilla cake soaked in tequilla (though be careful not
to eat too much. 😊 )topped with whipped cream and berries.
The panela de tres leches, and capirotada.

All in all,
the whole course was good and I really had a good time eating! Please make sure
to try this Mexican Menu at the Painted Table of Canvas Boutique Hotel,
National Highway, Barangay San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City.
